Chasing the Light:
A Wedding Day Race Against the Sun
Wedding days are full of excitement, emotion, and sometimes… a tight timeline. I recently worked with a bride who was so thoughtful and considerate of her guests that she only allotted ten minutes for photos in her timeline. Just ten minutes! At first, I wondered how we’d manage to capture all the moments. I didn’t want her to regret not having more but we did it!
As a wedding photographer, I love a challenge. We moved quickly but thoughtfully, making every second count. Between natural light, perfect angles, and a little bit of hustle, we got the photos and they turned out beautifully.
There’s something exhilarating about racing the clock and the sun, capturing real moments while keeping the day flowing. It’s a delicate balance between urgency and art, but it always reminds me why I love photographing couples. At a wedding your looking for raw emotions, intimate details, all while adjusting your camera settings to the setting sun.
By the end of the session, we had everything we needed, and the bride got to return to her guests without missing a beat. The smiles, laughter, and love were still flowing at the reception and we had stunning memories to show for it.
Sometimes, less really can be more, and a little adrenaline helps make the photos even more memorable. It’s all part of the magic of wedding photography in Oahu.
